Headache Medicine Fellowship Opportunities

Welcome to the field of Headache Medicine, an exciting, dynamic field with a grateful, motivated patient population and a strong academic presence. This site was created to make it easier for fellowship applicants to find information about current training programs and to help them navigate the application process. The information for each program is maintained by the programs themselves, including details on the history of the program, the faculty, the facilities and the mission of each center. In 2006, the first programs were accredited in Headache Medicine. Today, there are more than 40 programs in the US providing a structured training program to prepare fellows in the practice of Headache Medicine.

Recently, the American Headache Society joined the American Academy of Neurology in arranging a more transparent timeline for application. The fellowship application process is to begin no earlier than March 1 of Neurology PGY3 Adult/ PGY4 Child year. Fellowship job offers are not to be made earlier than August 2 of PGY4 Adult/ PGY5 Child year. The application dates remain standard across the programs that are represented here. This is to help provide residents with sufficient time to gain experience in the breadth of medical training and to ensure a grounded focus in the field.

2024-2025 Application Season (for the class of 2025-2026):

PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL PARTICIPATING PROGRAMS WILL NOT BEGIN REVIEW OF APPLICATION MATERIALS AS WELL AS CORRESPONDENCE REGARDING INTERVIEW SCHEDULING UNTIL AFTER MARCH 1, 2024. NO FELLOWSHIP OFFERS WILL BE MADE PRIOR TO MATCH DAY. PROGRAMS SHOULD NOT SOLICIT INFORMATION FROM APPLICANTS PRIOR TO MARCH 1ST.

All programs listed on this page are participating in the 2024 Match and must abide by the unified application timeline and the Match process.
