All About the American Headache Society’s Emerging Leaders Program
The AHS has developed a program to introduce young members to the Society’s leadership potential
Attracting top talent in the field of headache medicine is an ongoing priority for the American Headache Society. To advance this goal, we launched an initiative in 2016 called the Emerging Leaders Program to educate young members about the many ways they can become more involved with the Society.

What is the Emerging Leaders Program?
The Emerging Leaders Program was designed to identify and develop young professionals who will become the future leaders of the Society. By laying the groundwork for long-lasting, fulfilling relationships, networking opportunities and collaborations, we hope to give young medical professionals the tools and resources they need to thrive not only in the field of Headache Medicine, but within the American Headache Society.
Who is eligible for the program?
To qualify for the Emerging Leaders Program, applicants must be 40 years old or younger as of January 1, 2017 and must commit to completing an agreed-upon project to present to the AHS Board of Directors. Applicants may currently be a 4th year Resident or Active Fellow, and must have completed training within the last 7 years.
When does the program take place?
This year’s Emerging Leaders Program will take place Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at the JW Marriott’s Desert Ridge in Phoenix, AZ. Participants will learn about opportunities to serve on committees and participate in special projects and Foundation activities. They will also engage with mentors who are leaders within the Society and in the field of Headache Medicine. Successful candidates will have their expenses paid for this meeting and receive complimentary registration to this year’s Scottsdale Headache Symposium.
