For those desiring to become members or renew their membership, we ask for several items of personal information, some of which is required so that we can confirm your qualifications for membership and some of which is optional. This information is kept confidential and shared only in aggregate with those having a bona fide need to know, including staff, officers, board members and committee chairs. Individual race, ethnicity, disability, and sexual orientation information is used only in the aggregate for demographic analysis. We use data provided on our membership application and renewal form for several legitimate purposes:

• Increasing our awareness of our membership makeup and who is participating in our educational programs/meetings
• Improving the growth and retention of AHS membership
• Ensuring alignment with our diversity, equality and inclusion (DEI) values and Strategic Planning Initiatives
• Helping us determine whether our board, committees and other bodies represent a reasonable cross-section of our membership.

We may also use member Personal Data to contact you with newsletters or other publications, marketing or promotional materials and other information that may be of interest to you. You may opt-out of receiving any, or all, of these communications from us by following the unsubscribe link or instructions provided in any email we send. However, you cannot opt-out of e-mails that we send relating to your membership, such as renewal reminders and acknowledgments of your payments, event registrations, etc.

Usage Data
We may also collect information how the website is accessed and used (“Usage Data”). This Usage Data may include information such as your computer’s Internet Protocol address (e.g. IP address), browser type, browser version, the pages of our website that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages, unique device identifiers and other diagnostic data.

• We retain Personal Data that we use to communicate with non-members until you opt-out of these communications.
• We retain Usage Data for internal analysis purposes. Usage Data is generally retained indefinitely to analyze website use, to strengthen the security, or to improve the functionality of our Service, unless legally obligated to delete this data.
