Scholarship Opportunities
Several scholarship opportunities to attend the Scottsdale Headache Symposium are available for individuals at different stages of training and professional development, including medical students, residents, fellows and early-career healthcare professionals. Recipients will receive complimentary meeting registration, a stipend for eligible travel expenses, and a complimentary one-year AHS Trainee membership or extension of an existing Trainee membership.
Please note: Applicants who have received an AHS scholarship within the past two years are not eligible for these scholarship opportunities.
Student Research Scholarship Award
Designed to expand access to AHS meetings for early-career researchers, the AHS Student Research Award provides travel support and gives students early exposure to the AHS community. Applicants must be U.S.-based undergraduate, graduate, or medical students with an interest in headache-related research and will be asked to submit an abstract, a brief personal statement, and letter of recommendation from a mentor.
ApplyNEW! Medical Student Scholarship Award
This scholarship is designed to support medical students with demonstrated interest in headache medicine, neuroscience, neurology, or related fields, and to encourage the next generation of clinicians, educators, advocates, and researchers to engage with the headache medicine community. The applicant must be a medical student enrolled in an accredited MD- or DO-granting medical school in the United States, including Puerto Rico, in any year of training. The applicant must be in good academic standing, be able to attend the full Symposium in person, and demonstrate an interest in headache medicine or related clinical, educational, advocacy, or research activities.

Resident Scholarship Award
In partnership with For the Love of Ryan, AHS is pleased to announce the availability of ten resident scholarships to support attendance at the 2026 Scottsdale Headache Symposium. Applicants must be residents in a training program, demonstrate a strong interest in headache medicine, have experience working with mental health disorders, reside in the United States or Canada.

Frontiers in Headache Research Scholarship Award
These scholarships will be awarded to proposals, studies, or theses with the potential to contribute to the advancement of knowledge and future research in the field of headache medicine. The top three selected will present their proposal or results to attendees in-person at the meeting. All other recipients will submit a poster for display and participate in optional in-person Q&A sessions.
