Research Grants
The AHS is committed to providing access to current research opportunities. To that end, we have curated a list of current funding opportunities supporting researchers in their pursuit of new insights and treatments for headache disorders.
Please refer back to this page as new opportunities will be posted regularly.

Innovative Project Award
This grant, co-funded with the American Heart Association, seeks to support innovative, high-impact research aimed at advancing discoveries related to the effects of migraine and other headache disorders on cardiovascular and cerebrovascular health. One award, up to $200,000 for a two-year project is available. Pre-proposals are due December 10, 2025.

AHS Investigator Initiated Research Awards
The American Headache Society seeks applications exclusively from AHS members for grant funding that will support investigator-initiated research projects. Two awards, each up to $50,000, will be available in 2025. Projects should contribute to the core goal of the AHS – improving the lives of people impacted by migraine and other headache disorders.

Headache & Migraine Competitive Grant Program
The American Headache Society (AHS), in collaboration with Pfizer, offers a competitive grant program to support quality improvement initiatives that address critical gaps in headache medicine and migraine care. Funded projects must deliver measurable outcomes and create scalable tools or evidence-based resources that improve healthcare quality, patient safety, clinical effectiveness, timely diagnosis, treatment efficiency, patient-centered care, and health equity. This opportunity is designed to advance AHS’s core mission by driving meaningful, system-level improvements for individuals living with headache disorders.

Migraine Science Collaborative Travel Grants
The Migraine Science Collaborative (MSC) wants to highlight the work of scientists early in their careers. To that end, 12 Travel Grants per year will be awarded to those who have had their abstract for a presentation or poster accepted at a conference and are attending that conference.
