Special Interest Section Edition: Women’s Health

The Women’s Health Special Interest Section is a diverse group of professionals that aim to advance women’s health in headache medicine. We meet at our national meeting, twice a year, in conjunction with the AHS meetings. We also break into smaller groups more frequently to work on research projects and discuss various ideas.

We have two main goals, which include research and advocacy for women’s health. The Section focuses on topics such as pregnancy, post-partum, and menopause.

We have put together a number of pre-courses that have been a part of American Headache Society meetings in the last few years. Two of the most recent courses were the Migraine Experience in the Pandemic, as well as a pre-course in vascular issues. Several of our members are speakers at these symposia, bringing our clinical expertise to the audience.

We are also focused on research and collaboration with other special interest committees. We have written about the use of integrative medicine for migraine during pregnancy and formulated educational materials for our primary care colleagues.
