Scholarships

Scholarship recipients will receive complimentary meeting registration, a stipend for eligible travel expenses, and a complimentary one-year AHS Trainee membership or extension of an existing Trainee membership.

  • New! Student Research Scholarship Award: Designed to expand access to the Annual Scientific Meeting for early-career researchers, the AHS Student Research Award provides travel support giving students early exposure to the AHS community. Applicants must be U.S.-based undergraduate, graduate, or medical students with an interest in headache-related research and will be asked to submit an abstract in accordance with Annual Scientific Meeting guidelines, a brief personal statement, and letter of recommendation from a mentor.

  • Frontiers in Headache Research: These scholarships will be awarded to proposals, studies, or theses with the potential to contribute to the advancement of knowledge and future research in the field of headache medicine. The top three selected will present their proposal or results to attendees in-person at the meeting. All other recipients will submit a poster for display and participate in optional in-person Q&A sessions.

  • Runnin' for Research Advocacy Awards: The AHS will award up to two recipients to attend either the 68th Annual Scientific Meeting or 2026 Scottsdale Headache Symposium. Any neurology resident may apply with preference given to applicants from cities involved in Miles for Migraine events.

  • Monday, January 5: Applications open
  • Sunday, February 22: Application deadline
  • On or about Monday, March 30: Final decisions will be distributed to applicants
Abstract Awards
  • Harold G. Wolff Lecture Award: Given to the best paper on headache, head or face pain, or the nature of pain itself. The recipient of this award will receive $10,000 plus complimentary meeting registration, 4 nights hotel accommodations, and travel expenses.

  • Early Career Lecture Award: Given to the best paper on headache, head or face pain, or the nature of pain itself written by an "early career" author. The recipient of this award will receive $7,500 plus complimentary meeting registration, 4 nights hotel accommodations, and travel expenses.
