Headache Medicine Fellowships

Welcome to the field of Headache Medicine, an exciting, dynamic field with a grateful, motivated patient population and a strong academic presence. This site serves as a resource for fellowship applicants to find information about current training programs and help navigate the application process. The information listed on this page is supplied by individual programs. Headache Medicine is a growing field, with more than 50 programs available in the US.

2025-2026 Application Season

All programs listed on this page are participating in the 2025 Match and must abide by the unified application timeline and the Match process.

The Headache Medicine Fellowship application season for positions with a start date of July 1, 2026 will be participating in the NRMP Match. In order to successfully apply to your program of choice and participate in the match, the following steps must be taken:

 

How to Apply to a Program

Headache Medicine is not participating in ERAS. Contact participating headache fellowship programs via this website using the contact forms on their respective web pages. Programs will then contact applicants with information about application requirements.

 

How to Enter the Match

When the Match opens on May 21, 2025, all applicants should register for the Headache Medicine Match with the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).

 

Official Match Timeline

  • Application Season Begins: March 1, 2025
  • Match Opens for Registration: May 21, 2025
  • Rank Order Entry Opens: June 11, 2025
  • Quota/Withdrawal Deadline: July 9, 2025
  • Rank Order List Deadline: July 23, 2025
  • Match Day: August 6, 2025

 

Important Information

Please note that all participating programs will not begin review of application materials as well as correspondence regarding interview scheduling until after March 1, 2025. No fellowship offers will be made prior to Match Day. Programs should not solicit information from applicants prior to March 1st.

Program applicants can be in the field of neurology, pediatric neurology, internal medicine, family medicine, emergency medicine, obstetric/gynecology, pediatrics, or psychiatry.

Fellow Eligibility: 1. The fellow must possess a current valid and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the United States or its territories or Canada. 2. The fellow must be a graduate of a residency program in neurology or other specialties accredited by the ACGME, RCPSC, or CanERA. 3. The fellow must be board certified or eligible for certification by the ABMS, RCPSC, AOA, or CFPC.

Participation in the use of this website for promotion of your fellowship training program is dependent upon adherence to the policies set by the American Headache Society which maintains this website in furtherance of its tax-exempt missions. Such program policies include abiding by the agreed upon timeline for interviews beginning March 1 and offers being made as of August 1st. Any program deemed to be noncompliant may be suspended from use.
