The Lewis Headache Center, of the Barrow Neurological Institute, has an opening for a health psychologist with expertise in headache and neurological conditions to join our interdisciplinary team, including the opportunity for a faculty appointment. Candidates must have completed doctoral education in an APA accredited program, with a clinical internship from an APA accredited program, and be eligible for specialty certification by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP).
Barrow Neurological Institute (BNI) in Phoenix, Arizona, is a focused neuroscience institute and internationally recognized leader in neurology, neurosurgery, and neuroradiology. Barrow has a traditional tripartite academic mission of providing patient-centered patient care, training the next generation of physician leaders, and conducting clinically relevant research. All BNI faculty hold academic title appointments with University of Arizona College of Medicine Phoenix and Creighton University School of Medicine.

Job summary: Work with an experienced, highly skilled, and interdisciplinary team of specialists in BNI’s rapidly expanding adult Neurology Division and Jan and Tom Lewis Headache Center at Barrow Neurological Institute/CommonSpirit dba St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center. We seek to provide comprehensive, compassionate, and cutting-edge care in one of the largest dedicated headache programs nationwide. This is an exciting opportunity to collaborate with a high volume, diverse, and medically complex patient population, a phenomenal interdisciplinary group of highly collaborative neurologists, specialized nurses, physical therapists, social workers and psychologists improving the daily life of headache patients and exceeding their expectations. Teaching responsibilities will include instruction of medical students, neurological Residents, rotating Fellows, nurses and advanced practice providers. Job Specifications: Applicants must completed a doctorate degree PhD or PsyD in an APA accredited program, with a clinical internship from an APA accredited program, and be eligible for specialty certification by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP). Two or more years of health psychology experience with emphasis on neurological populations is preferred. ABPP Board Certification in Rehabilitation Psychology or Health Psychology or Clinical Psychology preferred and will be required within 5 years of appointment. Special skills include competence in Biofeedback, Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with neurological or neurosurgical patient populations. Program development skills required. Ability to obtain a State of Arizona psychologist license at the time of employment.
