Applications are now open for the 2027 Headache Academy!
The American Headache Society's Headache Academy encourages a lasting commitment to headache medicine among young neurologists and research scientists through an educational program focused on clinical and research aspects of the field.
For Headache Academy program committee co-chair Serena L. Orr, MD, MS, FAHS, the program’s value cannot be overstated. “[T]his presents an unparalleled opportunity for up-and-coming clinical and research professionals interested in headache medicine to learn, interact, and network with each other and leading headache experts to build the foundations towards a successful career in our field,” says Dr. Orr.
The 2027 program will be held February 25-27, 2027, at the UCLA Meyer and Renee Luskin Conference Center in Los Angeles, CA. Participants will be introduced to multiple opportunities in the field and receive hands-on instruction in the pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment from the world’s leading experts. Experts will also provide headache education (migraine, cluster headache, and related primary headache disorders) and practical education in clinical trial methodology, biostatistics, and the preparation and publication of study results.
Accepted applicants will receive up to $1,500 towards travel expenses and a one-year AHS Trainee membership or an extension of their existing Trainee membership. By submitting an optional research proposal, select applicants may also receive a $10,000 grant to fund a research project and an invitation to present at the 70th Annual Scientific Meeting in 2028.
Eligible applicants must be PGY 3+ Residents, Headache Medicine Fellows, or MD/PhD clinicians/researchers currently enrolled or within 5 years of having completed their training. Applicants must be located in the US, Canada, or Latin America.
To apply, interested applicants must complete the online application and submit a CV, brief academic update (e.g., publications, presentations, promotions, project funding, etc.), and a letter from a Department Chair, Program Director, or AHS member. Applicants must also complete a statement of interest and financial disclosure form. Applications are due Sunday, October 25, with final decisions expected on or around Friday, November 27.
