2023 Scottsdale Headache Symposium

Since the inaugural meeting in 1970, the Scottsdale Headache Symposium® continues to be a successful venue for providing practical, clinical, evidence-based information on the diagnosis, management and treatment of patients with headache.

Education is presented in didactic, case-based, evidence-based, panel and demonstrative formats over the course of four days. The Symposium is designed for general practitioners, internists, pediatricians, neurologists, anesthesiologists, dentists, physical therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, and other health professionals who treat headache.

HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY
The AHS actively monitors the health and safety guidance from the Centers for Disease Control as well as state and local health departments. We want attendees to enjoy a safe environment at all AHS meetings. While the AHS continues to recommend people are up to date on COVID-19 vaccination, attendees of AHS meetings are not required to be vaccinated or verify vaccination status. In addition, masks are optional for AHS meetings and prior antigen testing is not required. We will continue to follow best practices recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and abide by any legal mandates and recommendations from government officials in the location of any AHS meeting. These protocols and information are subject to change.

Please note, even with safeguards and the AHS’s overarching commitment to attendee wellness, there remains a risk of contracting COVID-19.

PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE

At the conclusion of this program, learners will share that they feel better prepared to manage patients presenting with headache conditions by applying best practices in Headache Medicine related to diagnosis, epidemiology, and treatment of headache disorders in adults and children in clinical practice and research, apply cutting-edge approaches to the assessment of outcomes in clinical practice, develop strategies for the treatment of refractory headaches and headaches during pregnancy, and incorporate processes to comply with new documentation requirements and enhance employee retention.

ACCREDITATION STATEMENT

The American Headache Society® is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

CREDIT DESIGNATION STATEMENT

The American Headache Society® designates this Other activity (live and recorded sessions) for a maximum of 42.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

ABPN

THE AMERICAN BOARD OF PSYCHIATRY AND NEUROLOGY HAS REVIEWED THE 2023 SCOTTSDALE HEADACHE SYMPOSIUM AND HAS APPROVED THIS ACTIVITY AS PART OF A COMPREHENSIVE SELF-ASSESSMENT (SA) CME ACTIVITY, WHICH IS MANDATED BY THE ABMS AS A NECESSARY COMPONENT OF CONTINUING CERTIFICATION.

This activity awards up to 42.5 Category 1 CME credits as Self-Assessment CME credits. The approval period is for November 16 – 19, 2023. SA activity available until 5/20/2024.

AAFP

The AAFP has reviewed 2023 Scottsdale Headache Symposium and deemed it acceptable for up to 22.75 Live AAFP Elective credits. Term of Approval is from 11/16/2023 to 11/19/2023. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

    1. Go to Education On Demand (all attendees, including AHS members, should create a visitor account or log in with the visitor credentials created during the Annual Scientific Meeting).
      • Please be sure to use the same email address that you used during registration for the Symposium
    2. Once logged in, you will see the sessions listed on the left-hand side. Click on any session you wish to view.
    3. Complete the post-activity evaluation here. We suggest you wait to complete the evaluation/claim credit until you’ve watched all recorded sessions for which credit* is sought. The recorded sessions will be available until Monday, May 20, 2024 and the evaluation will be available until Monday, June 17, 2024.
    4. For ABPN Self-Assessment Credit, complete the short ABPN Self-Assessment Quiz
    5. Enter the number of CME credits being claimed per credit type
    6. Download your certificate (be sure to select AMA credit [MD/DOs] or Participation credit [all others] to access a certificate)

REGISTRATION INFORMATION
In-person registration includes admittance to all educational sessions, (except where noted), the exhibit hall, continental breakfast and refreshment breaks each day, as well as several evening receptions during the event. In-person registration also includes full access to the virtual experience (live-streamed sessions during the conference dates) and seperate On Demand program.


FORMS OF PAYMENT
Credit cards are the preferred method of payment. AHS accepts Visa, MasterCard, and American Express. AHS reserves the right to charge the correct amount if different from your calculated total. Charges will appear on your statement as “AHS Registration.”

Checks are acceptable when registration is submitted by mail or completed onsite at the Scottsdale Headache Symposium. Checks must be made payable (in US dollars) to the American Headache Society and issued by a US correspondent bank. The registrant is responsible for any and all bank charges. Mail to:

Wire Transfers are accepted provided that the NET AMOUNT of the wire (after bank fees) is sufficient to cover all registration fees in US dollars. Please contact AHS Headquarters for additional information on wire transfer payments.

Cash and Travelers Checks (US dollars only) are accepted for onsite registration at the Scottsdale Headache Symposium. Please do not send cash or travelers checks through the mail.


GROUP DISCOUNTS
AHS encourages you and your colleagues to take advantage of the discounted fees available when two or more from an organization (same location) register for the meeting. Registration for group discounts must be submitted together (by mail or fax) with acceptable form(s) of payment. A discount of $25.00 per attendee (after the first attendee pays full price) will be applied.


LETTERS OF INVITATION
If requested, the AHS will send a personal invitation for participation at the Scottsdale Headache Symposium. This invitation is only meant to assist participants in raising travel funds and obtaining a VISA. This is not a commitment on the part of the AHS to provide any financial support.


CANCELLATION POLICY
Requests must be submitted via email no later than Wednesday, November 1, 2023.  Once the cancellation is processed, all fees paid less a $100.00 administrative fee will be refunded. If paid by credit card, please allow up to five business days for the credit to show in your bank account.  THERE WILL BE NO REFUNDS AFTER THE NOVEMBER 1 DEADLINE.


MOVING FROM IN-PERSON TO VIRTUAL EXPERIENCE

Attendees wishing to move from the in-person to the virtual experience due to health, inability, or discomfort with traveling may change their registration at any point with no penalty.

Access the 2023 Scottsdale Headache Symposium session recordings here. Session recordings will be available within 48 hours of the live session through Monday, May 20, 2024.

All registered attendees of the Live Meeting will have complimentary access to the session recordings. All others can register for the meeting to watch recorded sessions through the link above.

Important note about email addresses: Please register with the email address that you intend to complete your evaluations. If you are registering a group, please use the attendees’ email addresses, and not your own. Please do not use the same email address for multiple attendees!

I registered for the in-person activity, can I switch to virtual? / I registered for the virtual activity, can I switch to in-person?
Yes! Let us know you want to switch, and we’ll update your registration. There is no difference in cost.

I can no longer attend. Can I switch my registration to a colleague?
Yes! Please contact AHSHQ@talley.com to switch your registration over to someone else. Please be sure to have all their contact information on hand.

Will there be transportation between the Camelback (conference hotel) and other area hotels?
Shuttles will run from Thursday to Saturday to and from the JW Marriott Camelback Inn, Mountain Shadows, and Hilton Scottsdale Resort & Villas during the following hours:

  • Thursday from 6:30 AM-9:30 AM & 6:00 PM-9:00 PM
  • Friday from 6:30 AM-9:30 AM & 6:00 PM-9:00 PM
  • Saturday from 6:30 AM-9:30 AM & 6:00 PM-9:00 PM

How do I book space for an ancillary meeting or social event?
If you are already an exhibitor, please login to the portal and select “additional sponsorship activities”. Select the option that works for you (Ancillary Meetings are for 30 attendees or less and Social Events are for more than 30 attendees). If you are not an exhibitor, please contact Darryl Diamond at ddiamond@talley.com. Please fill out the application on the “Symposium/Meeting Space Applications”

You won’t be billed until the application is accepted.  Applications are due October 2 and notifications will be sent out on October 5.
